A coach/bus trip which gives an into insight of the turbulent history of Cyprus. We travel towards Famagusta and drive right next to the ‘Ghost Town’ – fenced sealed-off area of the town – which remains trapped in a time-warp since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. We stop at the beautiful coastal ancient town of Famagusta which lies behind Venetian Walls, with cobbled streets and quaint stores, eating houses and home to the Gothic Church of St Nicholas. Here free time is given to browse and maybe have a quick coffee. Driving through the Pentadaktilos Mountain Range, we arrive at Bellapais Abbey, a Gothic masterpiece of art. Completed in the 13^th century AD by Augustinian monks also known as the Order of Saint Norbert. The abbey is a fine example of gothic architecture. There are breathtaking views from here of the northern coast of Kyrenia. We continue to the town of Kyrenia, more than 3000 years of Greek History. Free time here for lunch (not included in price), shopping and stroll around the town. You can also visit the picturesque harbour and the Castle of Kyrenia, which hosts the remains of one of the oldest shipwrecks in the world. {We will be travelling to the Northern Territory of Cyprus (Turkish Territory) – going through a check-point where EU ID cards and international passports are to be presented for identification.}

People who do not wish to visit St Barnabas and Salamis can have extra free time in Famagusta Old Town Centre.

Double entry ticket to St Barnabas and Salamis is an optional extra payable on the day of the excursion.

Passports or European Union ID cards are needed on the day of the excursion.

For this excursion, clients staying in Larnaca area are transferred to and from a central point via a mini bus or local bus service (agent will explain procedure).
