Mountain Bike Tour - Agios Georgios to Akamas Lighthouse

• Ride along the rugged Akamas coastline and beaches of Toxeftra and Lara beach

• Follow Akamas coastline East on a mainly flat trail to the finish point

From the start point of Agios Georgios we head west into the Akamas Peninsula riding along the rugged Akamas coastline and beaches of Toxeftra and Lara beach, stopping off at Lara Turtle Sanctuary to see the work done by the volunteers to protect the Turtle Nest Sites.

At the 15km point the route climbs for 7km to one of the highest points on the route at 300m above sea level with views of both the Northern and Southern coastline.
We continue along the High Akamas Trail for 8km before descending down to the Akamas Light House at the 32km point and 200m above sea level, with views of Blue Lagoon, Fontana Amoroza and Cape Arnaoutis. Here we take a lunch break and then commence our descent back to sea level where we follow the Akamas coastline heading East on a mainly flat trail with some short climbs before reaching the finishing point.

This tour is best suited for the experienced rider with a good level of fitness.

Travel insurance is essential, with additional cover for Mountain Biking.

We use Whyte T130-SX bikes. We have invested in Whyte highly rated T130 Trail Bike range, which we have tested throughout the most demanding trails in the Akamas Peninsula, and have found that the T130 SX has preformed exceptionally well on the most technical trails, which is all down to Whyte's outstanding frame geometry and design.

The Akamas Peninsula is a wild and rugged region, which is why we offer support vehicles to cover any eventuality.

If it is your preference, you might like to bring your own pedals and saddle. However, please note that you are responsible for your own equipment, and for removing your saddle/pedals at the end of the trip. We cannot guarantee the return of any bike parts left behind.

Wearing of cycle helmets is mandatory.

We select a bike size that suits you best, do a bike setup to suit your weight, height and your riding style, familiarise you with the bike controls and a safety briefing.

Cycling of all kinds has its dangers and accidents can happen from time to time. Please ensure that you are properly prepared for the riding you are going to undertake, with a good level of fitness and off road cross-county riding experience is essential. Riding with confidence on hard pack loose gravel with down hill technical sections (our tours are not for the novice rider, and over 18 only)
